The Delian Society Awards Program
During the annual Delian Games (1 May to 31 May), the awards listed below are conferred on individuals who are not members of the Society. No more than one such award is accorded to each nominee in her/his lifetime. However, more than one award in each category or subcategory may be given to different individuals during the Games.
Any member of the Delian Society may recommend a nominee for inclusion in the Pantheon. All nominations that go unopposed after a period of four weeks will be accepted. Any contested nomination will be decided by majority vote.
Those submitting nominations are asked to provide the following information:
Please do not submit copyrighted materials without the copyright owner's permission. Upon acceptance, this information will be published online in the Delian Society Pantheon.
Awards recipients are not required to become members or to give formal notice of acceptance. The nominee will be notified either through mail or e-mail of the award. In recognition of his/her achievements, s/he will be entered in the online Delian Hall of Honor and will be entitled to display the appropriate Delian Society seal or medallion on his/her own web pages:

An honorary award conferred on outstanding living composers, performers, scholars, and other individuals whose work illuminates the close creative relationship that exists between tonal music of the past and present.

The Apollo for an outstanding composer of new tonal music in the following categories: chamber music, concerto, instrumental solo, orchestral music (including symphony), and electronic media.
The Erato for an outstanding musical composition for stringed instruments.
The Euterpe for an outstanding composition for wind and brass instruments.
The Eurydice for an outstanding new work in a traditional style.
The Hippocrene for an outstanding new setting of traditional verse in a tonal idiom.
The Melpomene for an outstanding contribution to tonal dramatic music.
The Polyhymnia for an outstanding contribution to vocal or choral literature.
The Terpsichore for outstanding use of percussion instruments in a new tonal musical score.

The Calliope for outstanding computer-assisted performance of new tonal music.
The Orpheus for outstanding solo performance of new tonal music. May be accorded to soloists in any musical genre.
The Pierides for an outstanding ensemble performance of new tonal music. May be accorded to all kinds of ensembles consisting of two or more instrumentalists and/or singers.

Membership and Links
New members of the Delian Society are usually invited to join by existing members, but individuals are welcome to enroll without prior invitation. A simple statement of acceptance with the following information is the only formal requirement: the new member's full name, occupation(s), city and nation of residency, e-mail or mailing address, and web site URL (when applicable). New members are also asked to include a brief statement about their musical style(s); a concise description of their current musical activities and interests; a link to a short original composition or performance available online (when applicable); and additional URLs of interest (e.g., agents, publishers, and recording companies).
All are encouraged to subscribe to the Society's electronic mailing list in order to maximize the benefits of membership. (Mutually consenting members who wish to give and receive critiques are asked to do so through private correspondence and not directly in any of the Society's public forums.) If you have not already done so, you will need to establish a Yahoo account in order to participate. There is no cost for this service.
