"Celestial Light" is one of my earliest surviving compositions. I originally sketched it on 13 January 1975 and presented a copy to a friend, Jorge Arocha, in Miami. It remained in keyboard score until 2001, when I happily rediscovered it and made extensive revisions, including transposition into a key more consistent with the vocal ranges of professional singers. A nonsectarian work of sacred character, it is suitable for use in a variety of liturgical or concert settings. "Celestial Light" may be performed by SATB choir and/or stringed orchestra. If it is presented by orchestra alone, I recommend that the original text be printed in the program notes.
